How selling on Whipedia works

Two ways to sell. Both free. Here's what actually happens in each.

When you start a listing we ask one question first: do you want cash offers, or do you want to list it yourself? Everything after that is tailored to the answer, so you're never filling in fields your path doesn't need.

Option 1 — Get cash offers

We take your vehicle details to our buyer and dealer network and come back with offers. It suits people who want the car gone without fielding messages or meeting strangers.

The trade-off is price. Instant buyers are purchasing to resell, so offers usually land around 80–88% of market value. You're paying for speed and certainty.

Option 2 — List it on the marketplace

Your car appears in local search results alongside dealer inventory, in front of private buyers and dealers at the same time.

Private sales generally reach 95–100% of market value. It takes longer and you handle the conversations.

What about trading it in?

If you're buying another car from the same dealer, a trade-in can be convenient and may reduce sales tax depending on your state or province. It's usually the lowest cash figure of the three. Start with a free valuation so you know what you're giving up.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. We earn from dealer advertising and financing referrals, not from sellers. There is no listing fee and no commission.

Will I get spam calls?

No. Buyer messages route through Whipedia, and your contact details are only shared when you choose to share them.

What if it doesn't sell?

Nothing happens. There's no penalty and no charge — adjust the price, refresh it, or take it down whenever you like.

Can I switch paths later?

Yes. Take the cash offers, and if you'd rather hold out for more, list it on the marketplace instead. Nothing is locked in.
